Music Therapy for Psychosocial & Mental Health Support

Music therapy can offer a safe and powerful pathway to expression, regulation, connection, and recovery – especially when words feel hard to find.

At Tweedle, our Registered Music Therapists support people experiencing mental health challenges through evidence-informed, person-centred music therapy. We work alongside individuals to build emotional regulation, confidence, communication, and a stronger sense of self – using music as the therapeutic medium.

Music therapy is not about performance or musical skill. It’s about connection, choice, and using music in ways that support wellbeing, identity, and meaningful participation in life.

Our Therapeutic Approach

Trauma-informed. Strengths-based. Recovery-focused.

Our Registered Music Therapists create a safe, respectful space where individuals are supported to explore music in ways that feel empowering and contained. Sessions may include:

  • Active music-making (instruments, rhythm, voice)

  • Songwriting and lyric exploration

  • Music-assisted emotional expression

  • Improvisation to explore mood, identity, and connection

  • Guided relaxation and grounding using music

  • Music listening for reflection, regulation, and insight

  • Group music therapy to build connection and belonging

Participation is always flexible – clients can listen, engage actively, or simply be present.

Music Therapy & Recovery

Music therapy aligns strongly with recovery-oriented mental health practice by supporting:

  • Choice and self-determination

  • Identity beyond diagnosis

  • Strengths and lived experience

  • Hope, meaning, and purpose

  • Social connection and community participation

Music offers a way to reconnect with parts of self that may feel lost during periods of distress.
