Meet Kate, a dynamic and accomplished Registered Music Therapist and Neurologic Music Therapist. Her unwavering passion for music and its therapeutic potential has fueled her remarkable journey in the field. Kate holds a Bachelor of Music from the Queensland University of Technology, along with a Masters of Music Therapy from the University of Melbourne.

Beyond her extensive musical education, Kate is a multi-instrumentalist, proficient in cello, piano, and guitar. Her diverse musical talents enrich her therapeutic practice and allow her to connect with clients on a profound level.

Kate’s clinical expertise encompasses a range of specialized areas. She has invaluable experience working with children with special needs, facilitating transformative growth and development. Additionally, Kate has contributed her expertise to an in-patient mental health facility, supporting children and adolescents on their path to recovery. Her practice areas include self-regulation, communication, executive functioning, emotional awareness, social skills development, and motor skills development.

At QPAH’s Southport clinic, Kate dedicates her part-time efforts from Tuesday to Friday, wholeheartedly embracing her role as a catalyst for positive change. Her commitment to client well-being, coupled with her exceptional musical and therapeutic skills, makes her a valuable asset to the team.

In addition to her professional pursuits, Kate nurtures a vibrant musical life outside the clinic. For 16 years, she has passionately played handbells, demonstrating her unwavering dedication to her craft. Currently, she holds the esteemed position of Artistic Director of Brisbane Bells, showcasing her leadership and artistic vision.
